Summary:To provide a lighting device which enables reduction of unevenness of illumination light.SOLUTION: A lighting device 1 emits illumination light L1 to a lighting space S1 at the outside. The lighting device 1 includes a housing 4, a light source 2, and an optical system 3. The housing 4 has an opening 4a which is open in the lighting space S1, and a lens is not located in the opening 4a. The light source 2 emits the illumination light L1. The optical system 3 is located within the housing 4 and emits the illumination light L1 from the light source 2 at a predetermined light distribution angle θ1 from the opening 4a while forming an image. An inner peripheral surface 43c of the opening 4a has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion has a portion having the smallest opening area. The second portion is located at the lighting space S1 side relative to the first portion and has an opening area larger than the opening area in the first portion. The illumination light L1 forms an image in the first portion.
