Summary:To provide a method for producing a separator that can suppress the generation of PVD film imperfections.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a separator for fuel cells, and a substrate of the separator comprises a metal material. The method includes: press-forming the substrate into a separator shape; washing the substrate with an acid, and forming an electroconductive film on a surface of the acid-washed substrate by physical vapor deposition.
