To provide a magnetic disc device with excellent reliability capable of improving the quality of states in which respective reference patterns are written, and also provide a reference pattern writing method of the magnetic disc device.SOLUTION: A plurality of simulation reference patterns is written into a magnetic disc under mutually different writing conditions, respective states in which the simulation reference patterns are written are detected, either of the aforementioned writing conditions is selected in accordance with results of the detection, and a plurality of main reference patterns as references for predetermined processing performed on the magnetic disc is written into the magnetic disc under the selected writing condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】各基準パターンの書込み状態の品質を高めることができる信頼性にすぐれた磁気ディスク装置およびその基準パターン書込方法を提供する。【解決手段】複数の模擬基準パターンを互いに異なる書込み条件で磁気ディスクに書込み、その各模擬基準パターンの書込み状態を検出し、この検出結果に応じて上記書込み条件のいずれかを選定し、上記磁気ディスクに対する所定処理の基準となる複数の本基準パターンを上記選定された書込み条件で前記磁気ディスクに書込む。【選択図】図１
