Summary:To make it possible to remove an insulating film of a rectangular wire in a longitudinal entire area of a target area without exception with low cost by making the cross-sectional shape of the rectangular wire closer to a rectangular shape in the longitudinal entire area by molding.SOLUTION: A film removal method of a rectangular wire 1a comprises: a first film removal step S2 of removing an insulating film 2(2a) on a first side constituting a cross section of the rectangular wire 1a having a rectangular shape; a second film removal step S3 of removing an insulating film 2(2b) on a second side orthogonal to the first side constituting the cross section of the rectangular wire 1a along with the first side; and a curvature radius reduction step S1 of reducing a curvature radius of a corner 4 between both sides, by molding the rectangular wire 1a with prescribed molding surfaces 11a and 12a before the second film removal step S3 that is implemented later among the first and second film removal steps S2 and S3. Protrusions 13 and 14 which protrude from the molding surfaces 11a and 12a toward the rectangular wire 1a are provided on the molding surfaces 11a and 12a.
