To provide heterocyclic compounds for liquid crystals.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to compounds of formula I, to liquid crystal media comprising the compounds, and to high-frequency components comprising these media, especially microwave components for high-frequency devices, such as devices for shifting the phase of microwaves, tunable filters, tunable material structures, and electronic beam steering antennas (e.g., phased array antennas), and to devices comprising the components. The invention further relates to an optical component comprising the liquid-crystalline media, operable in the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum.
