To provide a transmission device that simplifies network design by eliminating the need for constructing a network for meta information transmission, and that facilitates linking real-time transport protocol (RTP) packets with meta information.SOLUTION: The transmission device comprises: an input unit to which a serial digital interface (SDI) is inputted; a meta information storage unit in which first meta information is stored that is needed for converting the SDI inputted to the input unit into a real-time transport protocol (RTP) packet; a conversion unit that converts the SDI into an RTP packet on the basis of the first meta information stored in the meta information storage unit; an addition unit that generates conversion information including second meta information needed for converting the RTP packet to the SDI, on the basis of the first meta information stored in the meta information storage unit, and that adds an extension header that includes the conversion information to the RTP packet; and a transmission unit that transmits the RTP packet having had the extension header added by the addition unit to a network.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】 メタ情報伝送用のネットワークの構築を不要とすることによって、ネットワーク設計を簡素化し、ＲＴＰパケットとメタ情報との紐付けも容易な伝送装置を提供する。【解決手段】 実施形態によれば、伝送装置は、ＳＤＩが入力される入力部と、入力部に入力されたＳＤＩを、ＲＴＰパケットに変換するために必要な情報である、第１のメタ情報を格納したメタ情報格納部と、メタ情報格納部に格納された第１のメタ情報に基づいて、ＳＤＩをＲＴＰパケットへ変換する変換部と、メタ情報格納部に格納された第１のメタ情報に基づいて、ＲＴＰパケットをＳＤＩへ変換するために必要な第２のメタ情報を含む変換情報を生成し、変換情報が含まれた拡張ヘッダをＲＴＰパケットに付加する付加部と、付加部によって拡張ヘッダを付加されたＲＴＰパケットを、ネットワークへ伝送する伝送部とを備えている。【選択図】図１
