To enable virus checking to be performed with the latest virus definition information before resuming communication via a main line when such a state that communication cannot be performed via the main line continues.SOLUTION: An image processing device comprises: a main communication circuit for performing communication with an external device via a main line; a sub communication circuit for performing communication with a specific device via a sub line; a transmission/reception processing unit which communicates with the external device via the main line or the specific device via the sub line and acquires virus definition information from the external device or the specific device; a virus checking unit which performs virus checking by using the acquired virus definition information; and a line selection unit which selects any of the communication using the main communication circuit and the communication using the sub communication circuit. The line selection unit selects the sub line when the communication via the main line becomes impossible.
