Summary:To reduce unsafe feeling of occupants of an own vehicle when the own vehicle enters a crossing road.SOLUTION: A travel support method comprises the steps of: detecting an object around an own vehicle by a first sensor installed in the own vehicle (S3); confirming safety of the own vehicle entering a second road by detecting an object on a second road based on a detection result of the first sensor, when the own vehicle enters the second road intersecting with a first road from the first road on which the own vehicle travels (S4); determining whether or not a visible range of occupants of the own vehicle includes a predetermined area on the second road (S12); and allowing the own vehicle to enter the second road at a lower speed in a case where the safety can be confirmed by the first sensor and the visible range does not include at least a part of the predetermined area than in a case where the safety can be confirmed by the first sensor and the visible range includes the whole predetermined area (S10, S13).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 【課題】自車両が交差する道路に進入する際に自車両の乗員の不安感を軽減する。【解決手段】走行支援方法では、自車両に搭載された第1センサによって自車両の周囲の物体を検知し(S3)、自車両が走行している第1道路から第1道路と交差する第2道路へ自車両が進入する際に、第1センサの検知結果に基づいて第2道路上の物体を検知することにより第2道路へ進入する自車両の安全性を確認し(S4)、自車両の乗員の可視範囲が第2道路上の所定領域を含むか否かを判定し(S12)、第1センサにより安全性を確認でき且つ可視範囲が所定領域の少なくとも一部を含まない場合には、第1センサにより安全性を確認でき且つ可視範囲が所定領域の全てを含む場合よりも、低い速度で自車両を第2道路に進入させる(S10、S13)。【選択図】図8
