To downsize a medium conveying device that includes a set guide and a regulating part.SOLUTION: A medium conveying device 1 comprises a placement part 11 on which media P are placed, a conveying path R1 along which the media P are conveyed, a feeding roller 14 that feeds the media P, a set guide 153 that can be switched between a contact position where the media P and the feeding roller 14 are brought into contact with each other and a separation position where the media P and the feeding roller 14 are separated, a regulating part 155 that can be switched between a regulating position that regulates feeding of the media P by contacting a leading end Pe of the media P, and a permissible position that allows feeding of the media P, and a drive source 50 that generates power for switching the set guide 153 and for switching the regulating part 155.
