To provide a technique to appropriately reduce an unwanted video signal contained in an image of an environment in which a person is present, and to facilitate accurate determination of the person's state from the image.SOLUTION: A state determination method includes steps of acquiring a first image of an environment including a person (S1), obtaining an index value indicating the degree of the unwanted video signal in the first image (S2), acquiring second images of the environment in number corresponding to the index value (S4, S6), generating information in which the unwanted video signal is reduced compared to the first image using the second images in number corresponding to the index value (S7), and determining the state of the person using the information in which the unwanted video signal is reduced (S11 to S15).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 【課題】人物が存在する環境に応じてその環境の画像に含まれる目的としない映像信号を適切に低減し、画像から人物の状態を的確に判別しやすくする技術を提供する。【解決手段】状態判別方法が、人物を含む環境の第１画像を取得するステップ（Ｓ１）と、第１画像に含まれる目的としない映像信号の程度を示す指標値を求めるステップ（Ｓ２）と、指標値に対応する枚数の上記環境の第２画像を取得するステップ（Ｓ４，Ｓ６）と、指標値に対応する枚数の第２画像を用いて、第１画像よりも目的としない映像信号が低減された情報を生成するステップ（Ｓ７）と、目的としない映像信号が低減された情報を用いて人物の状態を判別するステップ（Ｓ１１～Ｓ１５）とを含む。【選択図】図５
