The control unit 5 performs a first accidental fire control to determine whether or not a cylinder 1a is misfired for suppressing the engine speed when it is determined that the first blow-up of the engine speed to be an over revolution occurs based on the detected result by the engine speed detection unit 4. The control unit performs a subsequent accidental fire control to determine whether or not the cylinder 1a is misfired for suppressing the engine speed when it is determined that the first blow-up of the engine speed is followed by the subsequent blow-up of the engine speed to be the over revolution based on the engine speed of the detected result by the engine speed detection unit 4 not based on rate of change of the engine speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】オーバーレブの吹け上がり時においてエンジン回転数を安定させることが可能な船舶推進機および船舶を提供する。【解決手段】この船外機101は、エンジン1と、エンジン回転数の吹け上がりを検出する回転数検出部4と、エンジン回転数を抑制する制御を行う制御部5と、を備え、制御部5は、回転数検出部4の検出結果に基づいて、オーバーレブとなる最初のエンジン回転数の吹け上がりがあったと判断した場合に、エンジン回転数を抑制するために気筒1aを失火するか否かを判断する最初失火制御を行うとともに、エンジン回転数の変化率ではなく回転数検出部4の検出結果であるエンジン回転数に基づいて、最初のエンジン回転数の吹け上がりに続いてオーバーレブとなる後続のエンジン回転数の吹け上がりがあったと判断した場合に、エンジン回転数を抑制するために気筒1aを失火するか否かを判断する後続失火制御を行う。【選択図】図2
