To provide: a transparent multipore-forming coating material which can be suitably used for spray coating and from which a transparent porous film having excellent transparency can be produced; and a method for producing the transparent multipore-forming coating material.SOLUTION: A transparent multipore-forming coating material according to an embodiment of the present invention contains particles and a dispersion medium in which the particles are dispersed. The concentration of the particles in the coating material is 0.1-6.0 mass%.
