A second preliminary operation control unit performs a second preliminary operation in which the second preliminary operation is suppressed when the degree of approach between the target object and the vehicle satisfies a third condition, when no space where the vehicle can travel is determined to be present in both travel paths on the lateral sides of the target object after avoiding contact by steering at the time point when the third condition is satisfied, and when the specific condition is satisfied.
