Summary: | To provide a spindle motor that does not require a sleeve case covering a bearing sleeve, while maintaining wear resistance between a shaft and the bearing sleeve.SOLUTION: A spindle motor 3 includes: a shaft 60 that has a columnar shaft portion 61 extending in an axial direction and having a shaft end portion 64, and a flange portion 62 provided at the shaft end portion 64 to receive a load in the axial direction; and a cylindrical bearing sleeve 40 that rotatably supports the shaft 60 and has a sleeve end portion 41 formed with a large-diameter recessed portion 42 in the axial direction. The shaft 60 is formed by a copper alloy containing silicon of not less than 0.5 wt% to not more than 1.5 wt% and manganese of not less than 0.5 wt% to not more than 3.0 wt%, and is a member where a shaft 61 and a flange portion 62 are integrated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
