To provide an underwater acoustic positioning system and an underwater acoustic positioning method that are capable of improving the positioning accuracy of an acoustic apparatus such as a transmitter.SOLUTION: An underwater acoustic positioning system includes a shipboard station and a positioning device. The shipboard station includes a communication unit that receives an acoustic signal transmitted by an acoustic apparatus, a positioning unit that positions the position of the shipboard station, and a creation unit that creates positioning request information for positioning that includes the acoustic signal received by the communication unit and position information on the shipboard station positioned by the positioning unit. The communication unit transmits the positioning request information created by the creation unit to the positioning device.
