Summary:To provide a coil component which is excellent in magnetic characteristics and contributes to improvement of a yield, and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A coil component 1 has: a coil 10; a winding core part 21 where the coil 10 is arranged therearound; a substantially T-shaped core 20 having a collar part 22 formed on a first end 21a in an axial direction of the winding core part 21; and an exterior package 30 which is formed of an exterior material containing magnetic particles and a resin, and seals the coil 10 together with the winding core part 21. On the surface of the core 20, a recess 40 having at least one of a first recess 41 and a second recess 42 is formed.
