Summary:To solve the problem in which there is a risk that, in the case where thickness or number of media to be conveyed is changed, the action of handling the media deteriorates, by the load acting on the media between a conveyance roller and a friction member varying.SOLUTION: A feeding unit 50 includes a paper feed tray 21, a lifter 29, a feeding roller 46, a guide plate 142, and a handling part 150. The lifter 29 can displace a sheet P in the paper feed tray 21 in the +B direction. The guide plate 142 guides a downstream end of the sheet P lifted by the lifter 29 in the +A direction toward the feeding roller 46. The handling part 150 handles the sheet P going toward the feeding roller 46. The guide plate 142 forms a frontage 49 where the sheet P can pass between itself and an outer peripheral surface 48A of the feeding roller 46, and is provided so as to adjust the size of the frontage 49.
