Summary:To provide a reliable display device having a transistor that uses an oxide semiconductor.SOLUTION: An inorganic insulating film containing nitrogen, which has high adhesion to a sealing material and has a high blocking effect against hydrogen, water and the like, is used for a layer that contacts a sealing material. In addition, the sealing material is provided at the outside of a side surface of an end part of an organic insulating film that is provided on a transistor; or the side surface of the end part and an upper surface of the end part of the organic insulating film is covered from an outside area of the organic insulating film with the inorganic insulating film containing nitrogen, so that the side surface of the end part of the organic insulating film is not exposed to an atmosphere. This can suppress the entry of hydrogen, water, and the like, which exist at the outside of a display device, into an oxide semiconductor that is included in the transistor, thereby realizing a reliable display device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】酸化物半導体を用いたトランジスタを有する、信頼性の高い表示装置を提供する。【解決手段】シール材と接する層に、シール材との密着性が高く、水素や水等のブロッキング効果が高い膜である窒素を含む無機絶縁膜を用いる。かつ、トランジスタ上に設けられた有機絶縁膜の端部側面の外側にシール材を設ける、又は該窒素を含む無機絶縁膜で、該有機絶縁膜の外側領域から該有機絶縁膜の端部側面及び端部上面を覆うことで、有機絶縁膜の端部側面が大気に露出しないようにする。これにより、表示装置の外部に存在する水素や水等が、トランジスタに含まれる酸化物半導体中に混入することを抑制できるため、信頼性の高い表示装置を実現できる。【選択図】図1
