Summary: | To provide a color separation combining prism integrated with imaging light separation prism capable of suppressing heat generation or thermal deformation of the imaging device or imaging optical system due to DMD-OFF light in an image sensor built-in projection type image display device.SOLUTION: A disclosed color separation combining prism integrated with imaging light separation prism includes: a color separation/synthesis prism that guides multiple pieces of light, each of which has a given wavelength band obtained by color-separating illumination light in the visible light region separately, to multiple light modulators, light reflected by each of the multiple light modulators is guided along an optical axis to generate projection light that propagates in a direction of the projection optical system on a front side of the optical axis, and outputs the projection light obtained by color-combining the projection light to the projection optical system along the optical axis; and an imaging light-separation prism formed integrally with the color separation/synthesis prism. The imaging light separation prism is configured to receive imaging light incident from the projection optical system and propagate in a direction of a rear side of the optical axis opposite to the front side of the optical axis, and to guide at least part of the imaging light to an image sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
