To easily discriminate the front and the back of a core plate.SOLUTION: A core plate front/back discrimination device 100 for discriminating a front and a back of a core plate constituting a core includes: a light source unit 102 for irradiating light to a discrimination target unit D positioned on an end face in a thickness direction of the core plate; a light receiving unit 103 for receiving reflected light reflected by the discrimination target unit; and a front/back discrimination unit 104 for discriminating the front and the back of the core plate.
