Summary: | To provide a polarizing plate that improves a light-dark ratio and/or brightness even when the polarizing plate does not include an optical pattern or a pattern layer including the optical pattern.SOLUTION: A polarizing plate includes a polarizer, and an optical functional layer and a first protective layer laminated on a light emission surface of the polarizer. The optical functional layer includes a resin layer and acicular microparticles. The resin layer is formed of a composition including an active energy-ray curable resin. The acicular microparticles are oriented in an in-plane direction of the optical functional layer, and when a light absorption axis of the polarizer is defined as 0°, an average value of an orientation angle in the longitudinal direction of the acicular microparticles to the light absorption axis of the polarizer is from -10° to +10°, and a standard deviation of the orientation angle is 15° or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
