To provide an index device capable of performing automatic origin setting processing of a servo motor.SOLUTION: An index device includes: an indexing rotary body rotatably assembled so as to be covered with the housing; a servo motor having an absolute encoder; a speed reduction mechanism assembled into the housing to transmit the rotation of the servo motor to the indexing rotary body; a rotation switching mechanism including a curvic coupling comprising first and second curvic coupling pieces, switching between the rotation and the rotation limit of the indexing rotary body, and assembled into a housing; and a control device which includes an automatic origin setting processing section for coinciding the teeth of the first curvic coupling piece with the center of the groove of the second curvic coupling piece by drive control of the servo motor from a clamp state of the curvic coupling, and setting a rotation position output from the absolute encoder as an origin.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】サーボモータの自動原点設定処理が可能なインデックス装置を提供すること。【解決手段】ハウジングに覆われるようにして回転可能に組付けられた割出し回転体と、アブソリュートエンコーダを備えたサーボモータと、前記割出し回転体に前記サーボモータの回転を伝達する、前記ハウジング内に組み込まれた減速機構と、第１および第２カービックカップリング片からなるカービックカップリングを備え、前記割出し回転体の回転と回転制限とを切り替える、前記ハウジング内に組み込まれた回転切換機構と、前記カービックカップリングのクランプ状態から、前記サーボモータの駆動制御によって、前記第１カービックカップリング片の歯と前記第２カービックカップリング片の溝の中央を一致させ、前記アブソリュートエンコーダから出力される回転位置を原点として設定する自動原点設定処理部を備えた制御装置と、を有するインデックス装置。【選択図】図４
