To provide a liquid crystal display device in which an optical defect is suppressed while maintaining high luminance, and to provide a polarizing plate with an adhesion suppressing layer capable of achieving such a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: A polarizing plate with adhesion suppressing layer includes: a polarizing plate including a polarizer; and an adhesion suppressing layer arranged directly on one side of the polarizing plate or through an adhesive layer. The adhesion suppressing layer is a porous layer. A liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal cell; a viewing side polarizing plate arranged on the viewing side of the liquid crystal cell; and the polarizing plate with the adhesion suppressing layer arranged on the side opposite to the viewing side of the liquid crystal cell.
