To prevent a code with low reading accuracy from being printed even when a printing state of a print engine is not well-prepared.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 comprises: a printing unit that prints a plurality of code patterns different from one another in at least one of density, color, and size; an acquisition unit that acquires images of the plurality of code patterns; a specification unit that specifies, from among the plurality of code patterns, a code pattern that may not be read by a code reader as an NG pattern based on the images; and an adjustment unit that, in response to a situation in which printing of a code with the same density, color, and size as the NG pattern is indicated, adjusts at least one of the print density, print color, and print size of the code so that the code is printed to be readable by the code reader.
