To provide a steer-by-wire type steering device which allows a driver to surely sense a situation where a direction of a steering object reaches a stroke end through a steering wheel when the direction reaches the stroke end.SOLUTION: A steer-by-wire type steering device includes: a motor shaft 16 rotated integrally with a steering wheel 1; an inner ring 20 connected to the motor shaft 16; an outer ring 21 which is provided so as to be fixed; an engagement element holder 25 which is supported so as to be movable between an engagement position where an engagement element 24 is engaged between the inner ring 20 and the outer ring 21, and an engagement release position where the engagement of the engagement element 24 is released; an electromagnet 27 for sucking an armature 26 by energization; and an operation conversion mechanism 28 which moves the engagement element holder 25 in a circumferential direction to the engagement position from the engagement release position according to movement of the armature 26.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】操舵対象の向きがストロークエンドに到達したときに、運転者がステアリングホイールを通じてその状況を確実に感知することができるステアバイワイヤ方式の操舵装置を提供する。【解決手段】ステアリングホイール１と一体に回転するモータシャフト１６と、モータシャフト１６に連結して設けられた内輪２０と、固定して設けられた外輪２１と、内輪２０と外輪２１の間に係合子２４を係合させる係合位置と、係合子２４の係合を解除する係合解除位置との間で移動可能に支持された係合子保持器２５と、通電によりアーマチュア２６を吸引する電磁石２７と、アーマチュア２６の移動に応じて係合子保持器２５を係合解除位置から係合位置に周方向移動させる動作変換機構２８とを設ける。【選択図】図２
