To provide a compound capable of obtaining a labeled biomaterial exhibiting excellent fluorescence intensity in a solution and a membrane state, and a labeled biomaterial.SOLUTION: There are provided a compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a labeled biomaterial using the same. RH-L1-Q general formula (1) (wherein, RH represents a hydrophilic group. Q represents a carboxy group, a substituent capable of binding to a biomaterial or a substituent capable of binding to a solid support. L1 is a linking group for linking RH and Q and represents a divalent linking group that is a combination of one or two more of each group of an alkylene group, an alkenylene group, an alkynylene group, a divalent ring group, -O-, >NRa1, >C=O, >S=O, -S(=O)2- and >P(=O)ORa2. Ra1 and Ra2 represent a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent.
