Summary:To provide a friction welded joint in which one or both of base material steel plates are Al plated and exhibit high joint strength, a tailored blank material, a molded article, and a method for manufacturing the friction welded joint.SOLUTION: A friction welded joint according to one aspect of the present invention comprises: a first steel plate plated with Al; a second steel plate disposed on substantially the same plane as that of the first steel plate; and a friction welded surface that joins the end surfaces of the first and second steel plates. Al plating is discharged from a joint part. A friction welded joint according to another aspect of the present invention comprises a first steel plate plated with Al, a second steel plate disposed on substantially the same plane as that of the first steel plate, and a friction welded surface that joins the end surfaces of the first and second steel plates.
