To provide a method of inserting a heat insulator, capable of curbing damage to a furnace wall and a furnace bottom when hot-repairing a whole coke oven.SOLUTION: A method of inserting a heat insulator comprises a preparation step (#5), a temporary installation step (#10), a disposing step (#15), a connection step (#20), an installation step (#25), and an insertion step (#30). In the preparation step (#5), a carriage (10) including a temporary hanging rail (13) and a guide member (15) is prepared, and a heat insulator (18) and a hanging-down rail (14) are prepared. In the temporary installation step (#10), the hanging-down rail (14) is mounted on the carriage (10). The guide member (15) restricts a movement of the hanging-down rail (14) in a width direction. In the installation step (#25), a first wire (20) and plural second wires (21) are pulled, and the hanging-down rail (14) is fixed at the same height as the temporary hanging rail (13). In the insertion step (#30), the heat insulator (18) is carried over from the temporary hanging rail (13) to the hanging-down rail (14).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6A 【課題】熱間でコークス炉を全面補修する際、炉壁及び炉底の損傷を抑制できる断熱材挿入方法を提供する。【解決手段】断熱材挿入方法は、準備工程（＃５）、仮設工程（＃１０）、配置工程（＃１５）、接続工程（＃２０）、設置工程（＃２５）及び挿入工程（＃３０）を含む。準備工程（＃５）では、仮吊りレール（１３）とガイド部材（１５）とを備える台車（１０）を準備し、断熱材（１８）と吊り下げレール（１４）とを準備する。仮設工程（＃１０）では、吊り下げレール（１４）を台車（１０）上に載置する。ガイド部材（１５）は吊り下げレール（１４）の幅方向の移動を制限する。設置工程（＃２５）では、第１ワイヤ（２０）及び複数の第２ワイヤ（２１）を引っ張り、吊り下げレール（１４）を仮吊りレール（１３）と同じ高さに固定する。挿入工程（＃３０）では、断熱材（１８）を仮吊りレール（１３）から吊り下げレール（１４）に受け渡す。【選択図】図６Ａ
