Summary:To satisfy both a demand in a scene where it is desired to raise exhaust gas temperature and a demand in a scene where it is desired to suppress a rise in the exhaust gas temperature.SOLUTION: A vehicle 1 has a variable exhaust valve gear 52 that switches valve lift characteristics of an exhaust valve 26 of an internal combustion engine 10. The variable exhaust valve gear 52 switches cam characteristics between the case in which the internal combustion engine 10 is operated at a first operation point where fuel economy is good and the case in which the internal combustion engine 10 is operated at a second operation point where the internal combustion engine 10 has a high output. At the first operation point, a first cam characteristic for suppressing reduction in exhaust gas temperature is used.
