Summary:To provide a polarizing plate which can improve a contrast ratio and/or brightness without including an optical pattern or a pattern layer including the optical pattern.SOLUTION: A polarizing plate includes a polarizer, a first optical functional layer and a first protective layer sequentially laminated on one surface of the polarizer, wherein the first optical functional layer includes a resin layer and needle-shaped microparticles, the resin layer has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of -70°C to -15°C and a storage elastic modulus at 25°C of 1×10-3 MPa to 9×10-1 MPa, the needle-shaped microparticles are oriented in an in-plane direction of the first optical functional layer, when a light absorption axis of the polarizer is 0°, an average value of an orientation angle in a longitudinal direction of the needle-shaped microparticles to the light absorption axis of the polarizer is -10° to +10°, and a standard deviation of the orientation angle is 15° or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】光学パターン又は光学パターンを含むパターン層を含まなくても、明暗比及び/又は輝度を改善することができる偏光板を提供する。【解決手段】偏光子、及び前記偏光子の一面に順次積層された第1光学機能性層及び第1保護層、を含み、前記第1光学機能性層は、樹脂層、及び針状形マイクロ粒子、を含み、前記樹脂層は、ガラス転移温度(Tg)が-70℃から-15℃で、25℃での貯蔵弾性率が1×10-3MPaから9×10-1MPaで、前記針状形マイクロ粒子は前記第1光学機能性層の面内方向において配向され、前記偏光子の光吸収軸を0゜としたとき、前記偏光子の光吸収軸に対する前記針状形マイクロ粒子の長手方向の配向角度の平均値は-10゜から+10゜で、前記配向角度の標準偏差は15゜以下である偏光板を構成する。【選択図】図1
