Summary:To suppress a driver from erroneously stopping a vehicle because of misunderstanding with respect to a traffic light when turning at an intersection by crossing an oncoming traffic lane.SOLUTION: A driving assistance method includes: determining whether or not a self vehicle is to turn to a crossing traffic lane crossing a self traffic lane at an intersection by crossing an oncoming traffic lane (S1); if it is determined that the self vehicle turns to the crossing traffic lane, determining whether or not a traffic light installed on the crossing traffic lane on a travel course of the self vehicle with respect to the intersection indicates stop (S2); if it is determined that the traffic light indicates stop, determining whether or not the traffic light is a target traffic light subjected to assistance in accordance with whether or not a stop line is installed at the traffic light (S3); and if it is determined that the traffic light is the target traffic light, notifying a driver of the self vehicle about that it is not necessary to stop the vehicle (S8).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 【課題】交差点において対向車線を横切って曲がる場合に、交通信号機に対する誤解により運転者が誤って停車するのを抑制する。【解決手段】運転支援方法では、自車両が、交差点において、自車線と交差する交差車線へ対向車線を横切って曲がるか否かを判定し(S1)、自車両が交差車線へ曲がると判定した場合に、自車両の進路上の交差車線に設置された交差点に対する交通信号機が停止表示であるか否かを判定し(S2)、交通信号機が停止表示であると判定した場合に、交通信号機に停止線が設置されているか否かに応じて、交通信号機が支援対象である対象信号機である否かを判定し(S3)、交通信号機が対象信号機であると判定した際に、自車両の運転者に停車不要であることを通知する(S8)。【選択図】図7
