Summary:To accurately detect the magnetism of a medium even at the ends of a magnetic detection unit.SOLUTION: A magnetic identification sensor relatively moves a medium including a magnetic substance along a conveyance surface and detects a magnetic pattern of the magnetic substance, and comprises a magnetic detection unit in which a first magnet, a magnetic detection element, and a second magnet are arranged in order along the conveyance surface. The magnetic detection element has a first magnetic detection block and a second magnetic detection block in which a plurality of magnetic detection bodies are arranged, and the first magnetic detection block and the second magnetic detection block are arranged in this order in a direction perpendicular to the conveyance surface. The detection sensitivity at the center part of the first magnetic detection block and the detection sensitivity at the center part of the second magnetic detection block are equal to each other. The detection sensitivity in the second magnetic detection block is smaller than the detection sensitivity at the ends of the first magnetic detection block.
