Summary:To prevent a reduction in quality when forming images continuously on a plurality of media.SOLUTION: When an image forming apparatus 1 prints images continuously on a plurality of sheets P, if a set sheet length of the sheet P is longer than a slack limit sheet length LD based on a set sheet thickness of the sheet P, the image forming apparatus sets an inter-sheet distance D (n) as an extended distance Lst, and if otherwise, set as a reduced distance Lex. With this configuration, even when slack of the sheet P is eliminated in a passage part 25 due to the length or the thickness of the sheet P, the image forming apparatus 1 can appropriately eliminate the possibility that color shift occurs on the subsequent sheet P and reduces, when possible, the inter-sheet distance D (n) as much as possible, thereby can increase throughput.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12 【課題】複数の媒体に連続して画像を形成する場合の品質低下を防止し得るようにする。【解決手段】画像形成装置1は、複数枚の用紙Pに連続して画像を印刷する際に、用紙Pの設定用紙厚に基づいたたるみ限界用紙長LDよりも、該用紙Pの設定用紙長の方が長い場合に、用紙間距離D(n)を伸張距離Lstとし、他の場合に短縮距離Lexとする。これにより画像形成装置1は、用紙Pの長さや厚さに起因して、渡り部25において該用紙Pのたるみが解消された場合であっても、後続の用紙Pにおいて色ずれが発生する可能性を適切に排除しながら、可能な場合に用紙間距離D(n)をできるだけ狭めてスループットを高めることができる。【選択図】図12
