Summary:To provide a production method that efficiently removes an aluminum catalyst possibly having an adverse effect when used as a raw material for polyurethane.SOLUTION: A method for producing a halogen-containing polyether polyol or a halogen-containing polyether ester polyol includes following (A) and (B) steps. In the (A) step, a catalyst composition including onium salt, Lewis acid and active hydrogen-containing compound is used for the polymerization reaction of alkylene oxide, to produce a crude halogen-containing polyether polyol or a crude halogen-containing polyether ester polyol.
