Summary:To provide a honeycomb filter having excellent trapping performance for trapping particulate matter contained in exhaust gas and excellent purification performance for purifying harmful components contained in the exhaust gas.SOLUTION: The honeycomb filter includes: a honeycomb structure 4 having a porous partition wall 1; and a plugging portion 5 disposed to seal any one end of a cell 2. The honeycomb structure 4 has, in the extending direction of the cell 2 of the honeycomb structure 4: an inflow side region 15 including a range of up to at least 30% of the total length L1 of the honeycomb structure 4 starting from an inflow end face 11 of the honeycomb structure 4; and an outflow side region 16 including a range of up to at least 20% of the total length L1 of the honeycomb structure 4 starting from an outflow end face 12 of the honeycomb structure 4.
