Summary:To provide a branch portion protection structure and a branch portion protection method capable of protecting a branch portion with a simple structure.SOLUTION: In a wire harness 10 inserted inside a main tubular protection member 20 and a branch tubular protection member 30 which have flexibility, a branch protection structure 1 for protecting a branch portion 13 in which a branch wire 12 is branched in a branch direction B from a main trunk line 11 having a plurality of bundled electric wires includes a main tubular protection member 20 through which the main trunk line 11 is inserted, and a branch tubular protection member 30 through which the wire 12 is inserted. At the branch portion 13, the branch wire 12 is led out from the main tubular protection member 20 in a branching direction B, and an end portion on the main trunk line 11 side of the branch tubular protection member 30 through which the branch line 12 extending in the branch direction B is inserted has a plurality of extension pieces 33, 33 formed by a plurality of branch main body side slits 32 extending in an axial direction L.
