Summary: | To provide methods and kits for determining or selecting rice plant of low amylose trait.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for determining or selecting strains of rice plant of low amylose trait comprising a step of determining whether a subject rice plant has a gene encoding a mutant SART-1 protein or not, where the mutant SART-1 protein comprises a mutation selected from the group consisting of: (a) an insertion mutation in four repetitive sequences of glutamic acid and lysine (EK) from position 56 to position 63 of the wild type SART-1 protein to increase the repetition number of EK by one; (b) methionine at position 586 of the wild type SART-1 protein is substituted with an amino acid selected from threonine, asparagine, cysteine, glutamine, serine and tyrosine; and (c) serine at position 745 of the wild type SART-1 protein is substituted with an amino acid selected from threonine, cysteine, asparagine, glutamine, serine and tyrosine.SELECTED DRAWING: None
