To provide a traffic information system and a traffic information providing method that suppress a delay in providing traffic information.SOLUTION: A traffic information system comprises: a first DSRC base station that detects a radio wave emitted by a DSRC on-vehicle device mounted on a vehicle running on a road; and a radar base station that measures a position and a speed of the vehicle on which the DSRC on-vehicle device emitting the radio wave detected by the first DSRC base station is mounted and collects driving log data when the first DSRC base station detects the radio wave, and updates traffic information based on the collected driving log data, wherein: after the traffic information is updated, if the first DSRC base station detects the radio wave emitted by the DSRC on-vehicle device, the first DSRC base station transmits the updated traffic information to the DSRC on-vehicle device emitting the detected radio wave.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】交通情報の提供の遅延を抑制した交通情報システムおよび交通情報提供方法を提供すること。【解決手段】交通情報システムは、道路を走行する車両に搭載されたＤＳＲＣ車載装置が発する電波を検知する第一ＤＳＲＣ基地局と、第一ＤＳＲＣ基地局が電波を検知したら、第一ＤＳＲＣ基地局が検知した電波を発しているＤＳＲＣ車載装置を搭載した車両の位置および速度を測定して走行ログデータを収集し、収集した走行ログデータに基づいて交通情報を更新するレーダー基地局と、を備え、第一ＤＳＲＣ基地局は、交通情報が更新された後、ＤＳＲＣ車載装置が発する電波を検知したら、更新された交通情報を、検知した電波を発しているＤＳＲＣ車載装置に送信するものである。【選択図】図１
