Each developer has toner particles containing particles having a refractive index of 1.5 or more and 1.7 or less. At least an area where the first toner image, the second toner image, and the third toner image are laminated is present in a transfer toner image formed on a transfer material. In the area, when A (mass%) is the content of the particles having a refractive index of 1.5 or more and 1.7 or less contained in a toner layer A closest to a surface of the transfer material, B is the content of the particles having a refractive index of 1.5 or more and 1.7 or less contained in a toner layer B formed on the toner layer A, and C is the content of the particles having a refractive index of 1.5 or more and 1.7 or less contained in a toner layer C formed on the toner layer B, A, B, and C satisfy the relationships of A>B and A>C.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】充填剤を用いる場合であっても色の再現性を損なわず、耐スクラッチ性が高い画像を得ることができる。【解決手段】第一の現像剤、第二の現像剤および第三の現像剤を用いて各トナー像を形成する画像形成方法において、各現像剤は屈折率1.5以上1.7以下の粒子を含有するトナー粒子を有し、転写材の上に形成される転写トナー像には、該第一のトナー像、該第二のトナー像及び該第三のトナー像が積層された領域が少なくとも存在しており、該領域において、最も転写材の表面に近いトナー層Aに含有される、屈折率1.5以上1.7以下の粒子の含有量をA(質量%)とし、トナー層Aの上に形成されるトナー層Bに含有される、屈折率1.5以上1.7以下の粒子の含有量をBとし、トナー層Bの上に形成されるトナー層Cに含有される、屈折率1.5以上1.7以下の粒子の含有量をCとしたとき、該A、該B及び該Cが、A>BA>Cの関係を満たす。【選択図】なし
