To provide a cation exchange resin that causes a very small amount of sodium elution when boiler water is desalted in a basic atmosphere, and a desalting method with a very small amount of sodium elution.SOLUTION: A cation exchange resin is used in desalting boiler water in a basic atmosphere, the cation exchange resin having a degree of crosslinking of 11%-30%. A desalting method performs desalting by using the cation exchange resin.
