To provide a printer which can prevent the occurrence of printing deviation at least in the printing of important printing contents.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: a conveyance unit which conveys a medium; a conveyance control unit which controls the conveyance unit; a print head which performs printing on the medium; and a determination unit which determines whether or not printing contents printed on the medium include important printing contents. When the determination unit determines that the printing contents include the important printing contents, the conveyance control unit controls the conveyance unit such that slack at least at a degree not causing fluctuations in tension of the medium during the printing of the important printing contents to the medium is generated on the medium on the medium conveyance path upstream side with respect to the print head before the printing start of the printing contents to the medium.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】少なくとも重要印刷内容の印刷時には印刷ずれの発生を防止することができる印刷装置を提供する。【解決手段】印刷装置は、媒体を搬送する搬送部と、搬送部を制御する搬送制御部と、媒体に印刷を行う印刷ヘッドと、媒体に印刷される印刷内容が重要印刷内容を含むか否かを判定する判定部と、を備え、印刷内容が重要印刷内容を含むと判定部により判定された場合に、搬送制御部は、媒体への印刷内容の印刷開始前において、少なくとも媒体への重要印刷内容の印刷中に媒体の張力に変動が生じない程度のたるみを印刷ヘッドよりも媒体搬送路上流側の媒体に生じさせるように搬送部を制御する。【選択図】図２
