To provide an image forming apparatus that adjusts the geometrical characteristics of images to perform image formation in which front-rear displacement is prevented.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has: a printer 100 that forms an image on a sheet; reading sensors C1, C2 that read the sheet on which a test image is formed; and a printer controller 103 that controls the geometrical characteristics of the image formed by the printer 100 based on results of reading of the test image performed by the reading sensors C1, C2. In a print job in which user images are formed on a plurality of sheets, the printer controller 103 causes the printer 100 to form a first test image every time a periodic condition related to the formation of the test image is satisfied, and causes the printer 100 to form a second test image before the first test image is formed in the print job.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 【課題】画像の幾何特性を調整して表裏ずれを抑制した画像形成を行う画像形成装置を提供する。【解決手段】画像形成装置は、シートに画像を形成するプリンタ１００と、テスト画像が形成されたシートを読み取る読取センサＣ１、Ｃ２と、読取センサＣ１、Ｃ２によるテスト画像の読取結果に基づきプリンタ１００により形成される画像の幾何特性を制御するプリンタコントローラ１０３と、を有する。プリンタコントローラ１０３は、複数のシートにユーザ画像が形成される印刷ジョブにおいて、テスト画像の形成に関する周期的な条件が満たされる度にプリンタ１００に第１テスト画像を形成させ、前記印刷ジョブにおいて第１テスト画像が形成されるよりも前に、プリンタ１００に第２テスト画像を形成させる。【選択図】図５
