Summary:To provide a method for operating a fuel cell system with which it is possible to obtain the necessary output with good efficiency, and a fuel cell system.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for operating a fuel cell system that comprises a fuel cell stack; and an auxiliary equipment group composed of at least fuel gas supply means for supplying a fuel gas to the fuel cell stack, air supply means for supplying air to the fuel cell stack, cooling water supply means for supplying cooling water to the fuel cell stack, and a radiator for heat-exchanging the cooling water.
