Summary:To provide an electrochemical hydrogen pressurization system that can operate an electrochemical hydrogen pressurization device with high efficiency.SOLUTION: An electrochemical hydrogen pressurization system 1 comprises: a hydrogen gas pressurizing unit 7 for pressurizing hydrogen by applying an electric current between an anode and a cathode that are arranged on both surfaces of a proton exchange membrane; and a supply conduit 10 for introducing hydrogen discharged from a hydrogen supply source 5 into the hydrogen gas pressurizing unit 7. The hydrogen gas pressurizing unit 7 includes a drain outlet from which unreacted hydrogen is discharged. The electrochemical hydrogen pressurization system 1 further comprises: a membrane ohmmeter 101 and a voltmeter 103 for acquiring information about the wet state of the proton exchange membrane; a fourth open/close unit 42 and a fifth open/close unit 47 for regulating the discharge of hydrogen to the drain outlet; and a control device 9 for controlling the fourth open/close unit 42 and the fifth open/close unit 47.
