Summary:To obtain a satisfactory result of focus detection even when focus detection is performed through an optical system with a large aberration.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus has: image pick-up device 107 having a pair of focus detection pixels 201, 202 that receive light beams having passed through areas different from each other in an exit pupil of an imaging optical system; and focus detection means 121 that detects the focus of the imaging optical system by using a pair of focus detection signals generated by using output signals from the pair of focus detection pixels. The focus detection means can perform focus detection in a plurality of spatial frequency bands, and obtains a result of focus detection to be used in a spatial frequency band according to the amount of aberration of the imaging optical system of the plurality of spatial frequency bands.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】収差が大きい光学系を通して焦点検出を行う場合にも、良好な焦点検出結果を得る。【解決手段】撮像装置は、結像光学系の射出瞳における互いに異なる領域をそれぞれ通過した光束を受光する対の焦点検出画素201、202を有する撮像素子107と、対の焦点検出画素からの出力信号を用いて生成された対の焦点検出信号を用いて結像光学系の焦点検出を行う焦点検出手段121とを有する。焦点検出手段は、複数の空間周波数帯域での焦点検出を行うことが可能であり、複数の空間周波数帯域のうち結像光学系の収差量に応じた空間周波数帯域で、使用する焦点検出結果を得る。【選択図】図1
