Summary:To be equipped with a hinge device with which it is possible to heighten stability in the case when use is made between two housings in a plurality of modes corresponding to a pivoting angle.SOLUTION: A portable information apparatus comprises a first housing, a second housing adjacent to the first housing, and a hinge device for relatively pivotably connecting the first housing and the second housing. The hinge device includes a first torque generation unit for generating a rotary torque to the relative rotation of two by slide resistance between a first base plate and a first link plate, and a second torque generation unit for generating a rotary torque to the relative rotation of two by slide resistance between a second base plate and a second link plate.
