Summary:To provide a liquid discharge device that can easily achieve desired cap pressure when a cap comes into contact with a head in a state of covering a nozzle.SOLUTION: A printer as one example of a liquid discharge device comprises: a slide mechanism 31 that has a first member 22B and a second member which can slide on each other along an elevating direction ±B; a head 20H fixed to the first member and having a nozzle for discharging liquid; an elevating mechanism 30 fixed to a second member 28P, and moving the head 20H up and down along the elevating direction ±B; and a cap 64 that covers the nozzle. The first member is constituted of a wall member 22B having a long hole 27, and the second member is constituted of a pin 28P.
