Summary: | To provide a rotor for a cage induction motor that can suppress the drop in torque that occurs during starting while keeping the dimensions of a rotor conductor constant at the dimensional ratio of the rotor conductor.SOLUTION: In a rotor 5 having a rotor conductor 8, the rotor conductor includes a first part where the circumferential width of the rotor conductor decreases toward the inner circumference of the rotor conductor, and a second part that is continuous with the inner peripheral side of the first part and in which the width in the circumferential direction of the rotor conductor increases toward the inner peripheral side of the rotor conductor, and when a distance from the outer peripheral end of the rotor conductor to the inner peripheral end of the rotor conductor is h0, a distance from the outer peripheral end of the rotor conductor to the outer peripheral end of the first part is h1, a distance from the outer peripheral end of the rotor conductor to the inner peripheral end of the second part is h2, and a constant N is a constant calculated on the basis of the depth of an eddy current penetrating the rotor conductor at the rotational speed at which the torque drops during startup, and the rotor conductor satisfies a relationship of h1/h0<N<h2/h0.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
