To provide a drum advance/retreat device capable of reducing influence of vibration of a device on a measured value even in a case where a test is conducted on a tire having a larger size than tires of ordinary passenger cars, and a tire testing machine comprising the drum advance/retreat device.SOLUTION: A drum advance/retreat device 400 comprises a rotary drum 4 that comes into contact with a tire, a drum housing 40 that rotatably supports the rotary drum 4, a base frame 100, a pair of ball screws 153, a pair of ball screw nuts 155, and a pair of linear guides 161. The base frame 100 supports the drum housing 40 so as to be able to move forward and backward.
