To provide a lens system which features a wide view angle, compactness, and high resolution.SOLUTION: A lens system comprises a first lens L1 with negative refractive power having an object-side surface that is concave near an optical axis and an image-side surface that is convex, a second lens L2 with positive refractive power, a third lens L3 with positive refractive power, a fourth lens L4, a fifth lens L5, a sixth lens L6, a seventh lens L7, and an eighth lens L8 with negative refractive power having an image-side surface that is concave near the optical axis, and satisfies the following conditional expression: 1.3<f12/f<4.5, where f12 represents a composite focal length of the first lens L1 and the second lens L2 and f represents a focal length of the entire system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】画角が広く、小型で、高い解像力を有するレンズ系を提供する。【解決手段】光軸近傍の形状が物体側に凹面、像側に凸面を向けた負の屈折力を有する第１レンズＬ１と、正の屈折力を有する第２レンズＬ２と、正の屈折力を有する第３レンズＬ３と、第４レンズＬ４と、第５レンズＬ５と、第６レンズＬ６と、第７レンズＬ７と、光軸近傍において像側に凹面を向け、負の屈折力を有する第８レンズＬ８とを備え、第１レンズＬ１と第２レンズＬ２の合成焦点距離をｆ１２、全系の焦点距離をｆとして、条件式１．３＜ｆ１２／ｆ＜４．５を満足する。【選択図】図１
